[5], 6-256, [2] pp. Brown publisher's cloth lettered in gilt and stamped with gilt and black decorations on the front board and the spine, decorations and border in blind on the rear board. Pale yellow endpapers and pastedowns. The front board is lettered in gilt with a gilt buffalo head and a stylized border in black. A portrait of Custer with tissue guard at the beginning of the volume, the volume is illustrated with seven additional plates. Dustin 81. Graff 961. Howes C 981. Luther High Spot 7. A striking example of the only full-length book Custer published during his lifetime, a high spot of Western Americana. Light wear and sunning to the spine, a tiny ink note on the front pastedown and a small abrasion to the free front endpaper's corner.
