[Lowell, MA?]: C.I. Hood & Co., Apothecaries, 1872. Staplebound. [16] pages, illustrations, wraps. 4.5 x 4 in. Very Good. On back cover: My mother-in-law and my whole family take Hood's sarsaparilla. An advertisement in dialect poetry for sarsaparilla drink sold as medicine by Hood & Co. "Mine Moder-in-Law," by the popular dialect poet Charles Follen Adams, is accompanied by illustrations of scenes and explanations of illnesses and their remedies with Hood products. A second part, "Sequel to 'Dot Mother-in-Law,'" was written especially for this advertisement. Adams lived in Boston, not far from Hood's facilities in Lowell.
