This is a book of five plays written by Andre Gide along with an interesting essay by him on the Evolution of the Theater, that was delivered as a lecture at the Societe de la Libre Esthetique, in Brussels on March 25, 1904. The book's dust jacket is in Fair to Poor condition with pieces missing at the base of the spine, at the top and bottom of the rear cover, and a small piece missing at the top of the front cover along with worn areas on all four corners, along the top and bottom edges and on the spine and lastly light soiling on the covers. The dust jacket is also glued onto the front and rear inside covers. The interior book has some wearing on its corners and at the base and top of the spine, but otherwise other than light browning of the pages, there are no further visible distractions or any visible extraneous markings throughout the book and thus all of the printing is in a well-preserved and enjoyable condition and the book's bindings remain tight and therefore are sound.
