First Canadian edition first printing of this biography of Georges Simenon. There is a 1/2 inch closed tear to the top edge of the dustjacket's front panel and a similar one to the top edge of the rear panel. Remainder dot to the base of the book. In very good / very good condition.

A detailed biography of Simenon which does make some attempt at neutrality, but Bresler's apology for Simenon's anti-semitism is comical. I'm also unenthusiastic about Bresler's reaction to Simenon's attitude towards women, or more precisely, to his lack of a reaction. Bresler makes some worthwhile critical comments.

In August 2006 we closed the brick and mortar and humbly went back to just internet. We now do internet and appointment only through our home.
