Sobre este artículo
112 pages with frontispiece and photographs. Quarto (11 1/4" x 8 3/4") bound in original publisher's brown cloth with gilt lettering to spine in original pictorial jacket. Descriptive passages by Charles Francis Sanders and J Smeaton Chase. Selected from "The California Padres and Their Missions " published in 1915. First edition. For more than a century the California Missions have been enchanting visitors from all over the world. Perhaps it's the pleasing proportions of their adobe walls and red title roofs, or the charm of their quaint Indian handiwork: perhaps it's their air of antiquity and the historical importance of the their past; or perhaps it's simply their nostalgic reminder of a simpler day, when the idyllic California countryside was peopled only by gentile aborigines and a few single-minded padres. Condition: Jacket back head edge closed tears and crease, light edge wear else very good in like jacket.
