The second edition of this work in a decorative cloth binding with pictorial gilt to the front board and spine. Top edge gilt. Prize bookplate to the front paste down, dated 1917. Illustrated with colour frontispiece and thirty-one coloured plates by Evelyn Paul, a British artist best known for her book illustration, who was influenced by the work of Dante Gabriel Rossetti. Collated, complete. An exploration of myths and legends from Japanese history, with chapters including: Buddha Legends, Fox Legends, Legend in Japanese Art, Flowers and Gardens, Mirrors, Festivals, and much more. Written by Frederick Hadland Davies, a British author and historian. In a decorative cloth binding. Externally, generally smart, with a little fading to the spine and shelf wear to the joints and extremities. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean, with some spotting and offsetting to the paste downs and end papers. Very Good

Where are We?
Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
