Sobre este artículo

London: Longmans, Green, and Co., 1892. First edition. Cloth. Good. 8" by 5.5". Charles H. M. Kerr. The first UK edition copy of one of H. Rider Haggard's popular adventure novels set in South Africa, illustrated by Charles Kerr. The first UK edition of this work in the publisher's original cloth binding. Coloured pencil to title page. Illustrated with twenty-two black and white plates. Lacking one plate. Sir Henry Rider Haggard (1856-1925) was an English author who specialised in adventure fiction set in exotic locations, primarily Africa. He was a pioneer of the lost world literary genre. This historical novel, following the early life of the hero Umslopogaas, is said to have been inspired by the time Haggard spent in South Africa, between 1875 and 1882. Illustrated throughout by Charles H. M. Kerr (1858-1907), who provided illustrations for many other novels by Haggard. 24-page publisher's catalogue to the rear. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, fairly smart, with fading to the boards and spine, and bumping to the extremities and head and tail of the spine. Cloth is split to the rear joint. Front hinge is slightly strained but holding firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are spotted throughout. Good

Sinopsis

Nada the Lily is an historical novel by English writer H. Rider Haggard, written in 1892. It is said to be inspired by Haggard's time in South Africa (1875-1882). The novel tells the tale of the hero Umslopogaas, the illegitimate son of the great Zulu king and general Chaka, and his love for "the most beautiful of Zulu women", Nada the Lily. Nada the Lily is unusual for a novel of its time in that its entire cast of characters is South African and black.
