The copy offered for sale has the initials of the previous owner JMCMM and in the same hand "recommended to me by Mrs Browning 1898" in ink to the ffep and an impressed address label affixed to the front past down " Morison House" Hetland Ruthwell. The book was seemingly previously owned by the Rev John Morrison of that address. The property is now an hotel. Good (Book - loss to cloth at head and tail of spine, paper covers tanned, significant offset browning to free end papers and 20mm split to gutter due to loss of cloth at tail of spine.No other notable defects , Two Shillings). The five books are listed as: Fables and easy stories, The 2d Part of the Panchatantra, The History of Nala, The History of Rama, and Miscellaneous Pieces. Sampson and Low in London published this piece in the same year. Text entirely in Tamil except for Pope's marginal commentary notes.
