This is Auldjo's successful ascent of Mont Blanc noted by ODNB as "a classic of alpine literature, a vivid narrative of the pleasures and perils of mountaineering illustrated by his own sketches." MEEKLY 8, NEATE A75. PERRET 183. Ink signature of Delong Iselin Kane, grandson of the first John J. Astor dated September 1896 front free endpaper and one more inked signature on half title. Modest extremity wear, scattered foxing throughout mostly marginal.
