Sobre este artículo
Readex Microprint Corporation, New York, 1966; 8vo, 436 pages. Vol. II of George W. Kendall’s first person chronicle of his experiences as a member of the 1841 Santa Fe Expeditionary Force, whose aim was to secure the Santa Fe Trail and enforce Texas claims over New Mexico. The mission failed when its entire company of men was taken prisoner by the Mexican army and forced to march some 2,000 miles south to Mexico City for trial. A fascinating account, relating both the privations and the delights of the march, with many detailed descriptions of the land, people, and customs of mid-19th century Mexico and the American Southwest. Verbatim facsimile reprint of the first English edition published by David Bogue, Fleet Street, London, in 1845. Published here by Modern Library founder Albert Boni’s Readex Microprint Corporation in 1966 at the urging of the American Antiquarian Society as part of the Great Americana series of important early American imprints. Fine, nicely printed on laid paper bound in leather boards with gilt titles, silk headbands, and illustrated frontispiece. As issued, without dust jacket.
