James Richardson (1806-1851) was an English traveller in Africa and an anti-slavery campaigner. This is the account of the author's third expedition published posthumously. He travelled from Tripoli in the company of the German explorers Barth and Overweg. After crossing the Sahara and reaching Zinder, he died shortly after leaving the town on 4th March 1851. Small "Withdrawn" stamps of the H.M. Stationary Office on each half title, a very good set of the first edition in a dark green cloth. We have been selling antiquarian books on Africa, Oceania, archaeology, anthropology, travel and the ancient world for over forty years.
