Baltimore: Commercial Ptg. & Sta. Co, 1917. First Edition. Three-quarter leather. Good. 12mo. [2], 22 pages, [2]. Frontispiece illustration and 1 portrait plate. Three quarter maroon leather binding with reddish marbled paper covered boards. Gilt lettered title on spine. Reddish marbled end sheets. Spine repaired with near matching mulberry paper. Leather rubbed along the board edges. Inscribed by the author on the first front blank end sheet. Previous owner signature of J. Ogden Murray's (upside down) on rear blank end sheet. J. Odgen Murray, author of the book "Immortal Six Hundred", was himself a captured Confederate Soldier. Shepherd was the youngest commissioned officer in the Confederate army. He was wounded and captured at Gettysburg in July 1863. He remained a prisoner until the end of the war.
