Sobre este artículo

EDINBURGH: W H LIZARS, 1833 A very good copy of the 1st edition in the original publisher's cloth binding. With half title; engraved frontispiece portrait of Count Buffon; hand coloured vignette title page (picture of a young rhesus monkey); 2 further title pages; contents listing; Memoir of Buffon; text, numerous engravings in the text, and 30 hand coloured plates (the plates run to number 29 but there are 2 versions of plate 2. Publisher's catalogues bound at the rear. The binding has been rebacked to retain the original spine. The boards and spine have a few marks - 3 on the boards and one on the spine. Light wear to corners. The original green endpapers have been retained with professional repair at the joints. There is the bookplate of Francis Hemming, the noted entomologist, at the front pastedown. Text pages have toning to margins and edges and the occasional mark or spot. The plates have browned edges but are clean with good colouring. Tissue guards have some offsetting and there is sometimes marking to the back of the plates.

Sobre E C Books

E C Books is a small online bookselling business, specialising in pre 20th century works:natural history, science, history, and travel, aiming for rarer and more unusual books. Our largest stock area is Natural History, where we have a good range of books from the 1700-1800's, many finely illustrated. Other areas include children's books, particularly late 1800's-early 1900's - again illustrated; and literature pre 1900.When you order books from us we ensure that they are properly packed to protect condition, and we always use recorded or 'signed for' postal services for more secure delivery. Please note that we have recently moved to the beautiful Orkney Islands, where we intend to open a bookshop over the next year. Because of our location we cannot guarantee 'next day' delivery but we will get your purchase to you as quickly and safely as we can. Please note that the buyer is responsible for the payment of any tax or duty on import.
