Sobre este artículo
London: Bell and Daldy, 1871. Large Octavo. Color frontispiece, 192pp., with a list of contributors and a list of authorities quoted within the volume, illustrated with color illustrations and wood-cuts. This work was published separately from the previous eight volume set as an addenda. The author had located over 150 new species after his previous work was published. This volume combined with the earlier eight volume set contains 5668 references to plants. Lowe was a renowned English botanist, meteorologist and astronomer. While he published works in all these fields, it was ferns that became his passion. An especially nice copy with just a bit of foxing to endpapers and first few leaves, text and plates clean with tissue guards present. Bound in 3/4 dark green morocco over marbled paper covered boards with matching endpapers, raised bands with compartments lettered and decorated in gilt, top edge gilt, nice previous owner's bookplate.
