Sobre este artículo

London: Hurst and Blackett, 1859. Cloth. Good Only. 7.5" by 5.5". Unamed. A bright copy of Nature and Human Nature by Thomas C. Haliburton. Bound by Leighton Son and Hodge, with a bookbinder's label on the rear pastedown. Thomas Chandler Haliburton, 1796 – 1865, was one of the first major Canadian authors. He attended University of King's College in Windsor and became a lawyer, opening a practice in Annapolis Royal. Haliburton became noted local business man and a judge, but his great fame came from his writing. He wrote a diverse number of books on history, politics, and farm improvement. He rose to world wide fame with his Clockmaker serial that first appeared in the Novascotian. From 1826 to 1829, Haliburton represented Annapolis County in the Nova Scotia House of Assembly. Haliburton retired from law and moved to England in 1856. In 1859, Haliburton was elected the Member of Parliament for Launceston, Cornwall. Haliburton received an honorary degree from Oxford for service to literature and continued writing until his death. In a full cloth binding with gilt lettering, decoration, and blindstamped decoration. Externally, sound. There is mild wear to the extremities, including mild bumping and rubbing, with slight discolouration. Internally, generally firmly bound, though strained in places with binding partially failed to page 16. Pages are generally clean and bright, with some very slight browning to the page edges and the occasional spot. Overall condition is impacted by the external condition, internally the work is very good Good Only
