Sobre este artículo
August Mencken, younger brother of the more famous H. L. Mencken, writes an intriguing book whose aim is to show how those who have been sentenced to death live through the hours until their time of execution. These fascinating case histories –some well known such as that of President Garfield's assassin- span over two decades and reveal all the tense drama and implicit terror which surrounds the grim act of hanging.
Book is in excellent condition. Pages are unusually uncut, intact, clean and with no pen marks, and uncreased. Cloth covers are clean and generally tight with the slightest give. The dust jacket is unclipped and complete with only just natural shelf wear and no major tears or creases. Reverse of the DJ is a 1942 calendar printing and advert for US bonds with the slogan 'by your buying you keep 'em flying', a nice period piece! See photos. Book has a transparent removable cover. 264 pp with B&W plates
