Sobre este artículo
First appearance in book form, "Anthology of Newspaper Verse for 1921," of Hughes' highly influential "The Negro Speaks of Rivers." Hughes' signature poem, written when he was only 17, originally appeared in the June 1921 issue of the monthly periodical "The Crisis: A Record of the Darker Races," the official publication of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), edited by W E B Du Bois. 8vo, pp. 138. The "Anthology" also features original printings of poems on the Unknown Soldier at Arlington, The US visit of Madam Curie, and the death of Caruso Edited by Franklyn Pierre Davis. Paper over boards with cloth spine. No jacket as issued. Ex library with bookplate. Edges slightly soiled, cover very slightly scuffed, o/w a VG tight copy in plastic dj. This 1922 printing is not noted in Hughes Bio-bibliography. This copy bears the bookplate and deaccession stamp of the American academy of Arts & Letters. Number inked on front pastedown, else internally fresh and clean. A very nearly fine copy of Langston Hughes' first appearance in book form, not mentioned in Hughes' biobibliography--or even on Wikipedia! Book #v5b162. $375.
