London: Daily Express, 1936. First Edition. Hard Cover. Dust Jacket. First UK Edition. Illustrations by Alfred Bestall. Original red cloth with black titles to the spine and front panel in the original D/W. A near fine copy. There is some foxing to the page edges and the early/late pages of the book. This book belongs to box on the front free end-paper has been neatly completed in ink (Ellen Locke/ Xmas 1936). There are no markings inside the book other than light foxing here-and-there. A lovely and bright copy seldom seen in this sort of un-touched condition with the cloth in near fine condition showing some ghosting from the D/W onto the front board and spine. The D/W is pretty much complete and is in near fine condition with a chip from the top right hand corner of the back panel and minor fraying/rubbing at the head of the spine (and adjacent thereto) and with short, closed tears to the top/middle of the top edge and to the bottom right hand corner of the back panel that stretches into the bottom of the spine. Looks nicer than it sounds. Photographs/scans available upon request.
