The New England Gazetteer: Containing Descriptions of All the States, Counties and Towns in New England

This is an early copy of "The NEW ENGLAND GAZETTEER Containing Descriptions of All the States, Counties and Towns in New England" by John Hayward. 1839 7th edition (though published in the same year as the 1st edition); Israel S. Boyd and William White; Concord, NH. Full leather binding. The book features a frontispiece engraving of "Boston and Bunker Hill" (with a tissue guard) and other full-page engravings (including the landing of the Pilgrims at Plymouth and the Vermont State House in Montpelier), as well as illustrations at the beginning of each state. Also included are "Descriptions of the Principal Mountains, Rivers, Lakes, Capes, Bays, Harbors, Islands and Fashionable Resorts within that Territory."

Condition:
Clean covers and spine. Wear to the cover corners. The top edge of the spine is worn down. A small bit of the leather has peeled away at the bottom edge of the back cover. Tight binding with no cracks and no loose pages. There are splits along the left and right edges of the spine where the spine meets the covers (despite the splits, both covers are still firmly attached and are not shaky). The pages have consistent mild foxing throughout the book, otherwise clean. Old bookshop label affixed to the front pastedown. Overall the book is in Good condition.
