Illustrated with black and white portrait frontispiece and engravings in text. Brown blind stamped cloth hardcover with gilt title and decoration on the spine. Ex-library book plate on the front paste down - "Library of Tufts College Presented by (hand written) A. Tompkins, Esq. of Boston July 1856". Written below the presentation signature is another inscription "Richard Eddy By Exchange with Library of Tufts College July, 1878." A different institutional book plate on the rear paste down. Embossed blind stamp from Tufts Library on the title page. Dates stamped on the front and back end papers. Front end papers lightly soiled. Edge wear to the cloth binding with spine ends partially missing. Binding is lightly shaken. Occasional light pencil notes in the margins.
