This New Testament is the first part to be published of the New English Bible, a translation of the whole Bible which was undertaken by the major Christian bodies (other than the Roman Catholic) of the British Isles. It is an authoratative attempt to present the meaning of the original as understood by the best available scholarship, in English which is as clear and natural as the subject matter will allow. Preface by Alwyn Winton, Chairman of the Joint Committee. Introduction, Table of Contents. 447 pp. Library Edition has more complete Introduction and full Translator's Notes. Green cloth covered boards boards have a black title box with as new gilt text/decorations on spine. Spine ends are slightly rubbed, top front corner slightly bumped, small ding on bottom edge of back panel.. No notations , underlining or fon. Book exceptionally clean, text block as new. Unclipped ($4.50 in Canada only) DJ remains bright with edge wear, top of spine chipping, a 3/4" closed tear at top front edge and top corners are scuffed and chipped. Library Edition stated on spine and front flap. Religious denominations of Translation Committee listed opposite Title Page. Two promotional bookmarks for the book laid in.
