The pottery mound study began in 1954 but unfortunately it was never thoroughly studied. Publications were few and field records inaccessible. The pottery mound in southwestern archaeology has largely been forgotten by the public. Those scholars who had firsthand field experience at pottery mound along with others who later reviewed, studied and analyzed the site's remarkable legacy.
