Articles include the full text of Irwin Shaw's antiwar play, "Bury the Dead," its first published appearance. There's also a profile of John Ford; the first installment of a three-part essay on film by Sergei Eisenstein; and theatre, dance, and film reviews. Cover illustration by George Grosz for Irwin Shaw's play. Additional illustrations by Otto Dix, William Gropper, and Gus Peck. The editor, Herbert Kline (1909-1999), was a documentary film maker.
Issues of New Theatre are increasingly scarce in the market.
