There is a vignette on the rear cover depicting "The Goodale Sky Farm Cottage, Mount Washington, Mass." The detached, mutilated front cover has been reinforced and partially repaired with fine archival document tape from the verso. The rear wrap is stained & chipped with a piece out of the bottom corner. 48 pages with ornamental borders. Illustrated in black & white with full-page wood engravings by Julius Hall & others. Also with a map of the Housatonic Railroad Line. The bottom corners are lightly creased & the bottom corners of the first 4 leaves are chipped, There is staining to the title & the last page. Good. <p>This nineteenth-century travel guide, prepared for the Housatonic Railroad, takes the form of a description of a journey rather than lists of amenities, destinations etc. The attractive "Photographed Landscape Views" mentioned on the title page are not original photographs but wood engravings by Julius Hall after his photographs. The text opens and closes with a poem and is followed by a list of "Housatonic Valley Summer Resort Hotels".<p>RARE.
