Wellington, NZ: Tourist and Publicity Department, 1952. Very good overall. A boldly colored map of New Zealand (on one side of a brochure) with an illustrated table, indicating population, land use, main exports for 1952, animal population, climate, and living standards; and incidental illustrations on the map. Key to symbols on the map at the lower right.
Although not signed, the artist is presumably Howard Mallitte, who worked for the Tourist & Publicity Department at this time. Text on verso printed on 5 panels, with information on subjects: In the beginning; country & climate; government; people, the Maori ("Maoris are friendly, hospitable, and intelligent people"); and more.
Color photolithograph, illustrated front panel showing cartoon style view of a New Zealand landscape, with mountains in the distance. Opens to 12 x18", folds to 4 x 9".
