Sobre este artículo

Boston and New York: Houghton Mifflin and Company, 1898. 1898. Hardcover. Scarce early printing (not a facsimile or recent digital reprint; this is the 1898 edition). Green binding, gilt lettering, illustrations on top cover, spine, 416 pages, 22 illustrations. Condition of binding: Expected darkening with a few discoloration spots, light wear to corners; shelf wear; small chips, wear to top/foot of spine; slight lean to upper portion (from shelving); Hinges partially cracked. Internally: Minor chips/dings to endpapers/preliminaries, title page partially detached, old gift inscription on first blank (dated 1955); light, scattered foxing, brown age spots to pages, expected darkening to edges. Overall Fair to Good. Text is very readable, illustrations are clear, vivid. Here is classic Joel Chandler Harris, the folklorist who became famous for his Uncle Remus children/juvenile stories. He spent most of his life working in Atlanta. This book has many of his favorites: Mr. Fox and Miss Goose; Brother Rabbit and the Little Girl; Mr. Lion Hunts for Mr. Man; The Story of the Pigs; How Brother Fox Failed to Get His Grapes; The Night before Christmas; and many more. A wonderful, scarce, antiquarian (over 123 years old) book for children. Note: We are a well-established, well-respected, ethical book dealer in business since 1991. We describe the condition of our books thoroughly and honestly, so you'll know exactly what you will be receiving when you order. We ship promptly.. Hard Cover. Fair.

Sinopsis

For more than a hundred years, the tales of Joel Chandler Harris have entertained and influenced both readers and writers. Nights with Uncle Remus gathers seventy-one of Harris's most popular narratives, featuring African American trickster tales, etiological myths, Sea Island legends, and chilling ghost stories. Told through the distinct voices of four slave storytellers, indispensable tales like "The Moon in the Mill-Pond" and other Brer Rabbit stories have inspired writers from Mark Twain to William Faulkner, Zora Neale Hurston to Toni Morrison, and helped revolutionize modern children's literature and folktale collecting.
