Sobre este artículo
n.p.: Joseph J. D'Ambrosio, 1989. 1st Edition. Hardcover. Near Fine/Near Fine. Ocatvo size, 137 pp., signed by Joe D'Ambrosio, one of 10 AP copies. A work of art itself, this, his second bibliography, sets forth books produced over a period of almost twenty years. First/Limited edition of 10 artist proofs and 75 numbered copies.
Joseph J. D'Ambrosio (1934-2009) was an exceptional book artist who wrote, set type, printed designs, did the artwork, and bound his books. He tells the story of how he came to the book arts in the Preface of this Bibliography. His editions are signed, numbered and issued, as a limited edition of fine art prints. Mr. D'Ambrosio exhibited in many one-man and group exhibitions, and his works are in both private and institutional collections, including the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
___DESCRIPTION: From the colophon page: "printed with hand-set Della Robbia type on Johannot paper with a Vandercook No. 4 proof press, (with) hand-marbled endpapers". The same marbled endpapers are used on the boards, with an overlay of copper on the front board, and grey leather on the back board and hinged spine. The text pages are all artistically designed, on the verso of most of the pages is an image done by color laser which highlights the individual book's exterior and/or interior design. Octavo size, (1-6), 9-130 pp. plus colophon page, one of only 10 Artist's Proof copies, signed by D'Ambrosio on the title page and designated "A.P.". . The dust jacket is of grey linen bordered with the same hand-made marbled paper, the title in copper lettering on the spine, signature of D'Ambrosio in copper on the lower right corner of the front panel, the interior of the jacket is of black paper.
___CONDITION: The book is in fine condition overall, with some very faint marks on the copper overlay, and minimal marks on the leather spine transferred from the interior of the paper lining of the dust jacket. The dust jacket/chemise is also overall in fine condition, with just a few very tiny tears to the seams of the marbled paper and some extremely minor wear to some of the joints/outer creases.
___PROVENANCE: This book has been deaccessioned from the Book Club of California, their bookplate is on the front pastedown and their numbering convention is in pencil on the verso of the front free endpaper; no other markings are present.
___POSTAGE: International customers, please note that additional postage may apply, please contact seller for details.
