Liverpool: Printed for Private Circulation by Rockliffe Brothers, Ltd, 1893. Book. Very Good. Hardcover. No date but [1893]. Pp. 61, [1]; addendum slip inserted between pp. 48 & 49. 4 b/w lithographic plates, head and tail pieces. 4to. Hand-made paper with uncut edges. Original green cloth with gilt lettering and black titling and decoration to the front board. Re-backed preserving original spine, cloth somewhat marked (new end-papers.) Contents clean and tight. A delightful, particularly well-produced regional avifauna, in larger format than usual and printed on high-quality paper, with four charming lithographic prints, presumably after the author. The "Introductory" is dated December, 1892, however the addendum states "since this little notebook has been in the printers' hands a wild goose.has been bagged on January 13th, 1893" and therefore we can presume that it was not actually published until 1893. It is particularly scarce, the list of subscribers lists 71 names - possibly just 100 copies printed. Not in Mullens & Swan, only the Bodley copy on JISC..
