A bound volume of three offprints by Temple on this subject, all of them very rare. Temple (1850-1931) was a British soldier and anthropologist who served as the administrator of Mandalay after the fall of King Thibaw. His personal experience in the country led him to develop a strong interest in preserving a record of Burmese culture (particularly monetary culture) during this period of transition. While we've once handled the second of these three offprints, the others are new to us. Coole W511 (first and second offprints; the third is not listed in Coole).
