Sobre este artículo
London: Routledge & Kegan Paul Ltd, 1964. First edition. Cloth. Near Fine/Very Good Indeed. 8" by 5". None. A scarce first UK edition copy of this analysis on language, originally from Nabokov's commentary on Aleksandr Pushkin's Eugene Onegin. A scarce first UK edition copy of Vladimir's Nabokov's Notes on Prosody. In this book, Nabokov analyses and explores the differences and similarities between English and Russian iambic tetrameters in poetic prosody, and discusses the effects of word length on rhythm. He examines Pushkin alongside a wide range of English poets such as Chaucer, Shakespeare, Milton, Wordsworth, and Keats among others. It was originally published as Appendix 2 to the author's Commentary with his translation of Eugene Onegin by Aleksandr Pushkin. In the original publisher's light blue cloth binding, with unclipped dustwrapper. In the original publisher's light blue cloth binding, with titles stamped in gilt to spine. Externally very smart, with minor shelfwear and slight bumping to head of spine. Dustwrapper is very smart. Small closed tear to head and tail of spine has been patched up by previous owner. Only minor chipping to extremities. Internally, firmly bound. There is faint offsetting to front free endpaper and rear blank page, otherwise pages are bright and clean. With unclipped dustwrapper.
