Sobre este artículo

London, U.K.: Chatto & Windus, 1935 Age and shelf wear - no dustjacket. Orange boards. Corners and edges of boards rubbed & bumped - spine top and tail rubbed - spine sun faded. One inch whitish mark on spine below title. Otherwise tight binding, no pages missing, no markings to pages, clean text pages. This was Pritchett's third novel about a provincial tannery and people whose lives are centered around it - the main character: Mathew Burkle. It was based on his own work experience in the leather trade. One of last century's masters of the short story. He was knighted in 1975 and died in 1997 at age 96. The novel is divided into four sections: Book 1: The Innocence of Mathew Burkle; Book 2: The Temptation of Mathew Burkle; Book 3: The Fall of Mathew Burkle; Book 4: The Rise of the Women.
