Rough cut pages are lightly tanned and thumbed at the edges, with creased corners and foxing. A few pages are uncut, thus unread. Corners are dogeared in places. Binding has remained firm. Boards are a little rub worn with slight shelf wear to corners, spine and edges. Corners are a little bumped and spine ends are a mildly crushed. Tanning to spine and edges. Book has a forward lean.

Numerous black and white illustrative plates throughout. Volume 4. Binding remains firm. Major crack to title page gutter with netting exposed. Mild cracking to internal gutters. Pages and plates are moderately tanned throughout. There is the previous owner's inscription to title page. Boards have mild edge wear with slight rubbing to surfaces. Mild crushing to spine ends and bumping to corners with fraying to cloth. Tanning to spine and edges, gilt lettering is darkened. Slight speckled mold markings to front and back boards.

Shaky binding due to cracked front hinge, but all pages remain attached. Pages are mildly tanned, but text remains clear. Boards have heavy shelf-wear, with visible corner bumping and noticeable scuffing to edges. Spine ends are visibly crushed and noticeably split and frayed. Heavy rubbing and scuffing overall. Label to rear board.

Some expected light shelf rubbing, tiny closed tear to spine foot, good hinges, sound text block, front free endpaper removed, old dampstain to outer edge which has created moisture shadows on most of the pages, most barely visible, pages lightly age-toned and free from names or other markings.. Hard Cover. Fair. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall.

Spine repaired by library, the result of which is that the front endpaper is meshed with the inside front cover. There is extreme wear to the cover corners, spine ends, & cover edges. The covers are rubbed. The spine is somewhat split, but book is holding together nicely..
