Sobre este artículo
London: Pilot Press, 1947. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good/good. Shelf wear to tips, corners, and edges of the book, more to the jacket with loses at tips and corners, rubbed. First printing. Lilley B.4. Three novels, little read now or then, by Benjamin Disraeli, G.A. Lawrence, and Ouida. The introduction was reprinted in Miscellaneous Verdicts, Anthony Powell, 1990. Writing in the introduction Powell, the novelist, claims that "Novelists that deal with a specialised form of life inevitably pose the question of how succesfully or otherwise their author has presented the background against which the characters play their part. How much do the surroundings approximate the outward realities of this particular world; how much has the author, deliberately or otherwise, allowed his or her imagination to diversify the scene in order to accomodate with greater convenience a certain favourite idea?" These considerations certainly guided Powell who at the time of this publication was commencing his twelve volume novel A Dance to the Music of Time, a masterpiece of 20th century literature. Every effort is made to ship all books and other items within 24 hours. Clean recycled packing material will be used when possible. The Book Shed has a been a member of the Vermont Antiquarian Bookseller's Association since 1997. An online bookseller with a bookshop sensibility!
