Sobre este artículo

1543 Saint Jerome BIBLE Vulgate INCREDIBLE Binding & Renaissance Woodcuts ART

"When the stomach is full, it is easy to talk of fasting."

– Jerome, Epistle 58

Saint Jerome was a 4th -century, early church father. While he was most known for his translation of the Bible, he also wrote a collection of letters which are now known his 'Epistles.' However, his Biblical commentary is still today his most desirable and popular work.

This 1543 printing of Jerome's New Testament was published in Cologne by Johann Gymnich and is bound in the original vellum binding – note the decorative stamped front and back boards.
