Sobre este artículo

New York: Alfred A. Knopf, 1994. INSCRIBED / SIGNED by Lauren Bacall directly on the title page. Laid-in is a full color photo of Lauren Bacall signing this copy at Vroman's Bookstore in Pasadena (the photo is large so is folded to fit). Also laid-in are two newspaper clippings about the event. SEE OUR PHOTOS. Fine condition in a bright and shiny Near Fine dust jacket. The jacket is only very lightly rubbed. NO chips, tears or fading. NOT price clipped ($23.00). Sharp corners. Square and tight. Pages are fresh, crisp, clean and unmarked. Movie star's autobiography. Photo illustrated. Bound in the original black boards with a gilt-stamped black cloth spine. Complete with dust jacket. From the reviews: ""CANDID AND HONEST...A philosophical looking-backward and forward--an inquiry into the question 'Is that all there is?' "-- Liz Smith, New York Newsday. "FRANK AND AMUSING.. .[AND] BRIMMING WITH CONFESSIONS... Part career memoir and part meditation on what it's like to be a single woman of lingering glamour, enduring vitality and advancing age... The book has the Bacall voice behind it. Her writing echoes her deep, sardonic, no-nonsense timbre and jazzy tempo....Bacall is at her best when talking about friends she has loved and watched die. Bernstein, she says, was more than a little seductive; Huston, more than a little remote; Olivier, a survivor to the end." -- Chicago Sun-Times. "HER PROSE IS SPARE AND HONEST....A kaleidoscope of thoughts and ideas on loneliness, aging, and above all, surviving...There are also poignant reminiscences of the golden years of Hollywood and many of its leading creators." -- The Washington Post Book World. "SHE REMINDS US OF SOME FAMILIAR TRUTHS WORTH ATTENDING TO…;What she's writing about, Ms. Bacall explains, is 'life' and indeed her musings about getting older, about intimations of mortality, about living solo, about letting go of one's children will resonate with women who, like her, are of a certain age." --The New York Times Book Review.. INSCRIBED / SIGNED by the AUTHOR. First Edition (so stated). Hardcover. Fine condition/Near Fine dust jacket. Illus. by NOT a library discard. 8vo. (x), 214pp. Great Packaging, Fast Shipping.

Sobre About Books

About Books (Genny and Michael Winne, proprietors, formerly of Parsippany, New Jersey) has been selling rare and OP books since 1985. Besides book fairs and mail-order catalogues, long-time collectors and dealers will remember our lengthy For Sale ads in the Antiquarian Bookman and similar magazines. Our inventory of over 40,000 volumes is especially strong in the specialties listed, but contains fine books in a variety of other fields as well. Because most of our books are stored in protective boxes, rather than on shelves, they cannot be viewed as a whole. If you wish to visit us to examine specific titles, please provide 24 hours notice and we will make them available for your inspection. Phone calls to (702) 750-2722 are welcome, but please, only between the hours of 8am and 10pm (west coast time).
