This book describes one twenty-four hour period, in great detail, in the bombing campaign waged by Great Britain against Germany in World War II. On the night of 30-31 March 1944 R. A. F. Bomber Command raided the city of Nuremberg in northern Bavaria. It met almost all the difficulties and dangers which enemy defenses and the weather could possibly produce. These and a measure of bad luck combined to turn a routine operation into a tagedy. The Nuremberg Raid gained an evil reputation among Bomber Command men and, for several reasons, became one of the turning-points of the bombing war.
