Charles Oberthur was a French entomologist and son of the founder of the celebrated Oberthur printing firm. In 1876 he began to publish the 'Etudes d' Entomologie.' which were illustrated with fine plates, 'the excellence of which has never been surpassed, seldom even approached, in any other entomological publication.'
