Sobre este artículo

Philadelphia: Published by Thomas Bradford, 1795. Third edition. 88 pp. 1 vols. 8vo. Removed. Dampstained, spotted throughout, ownership signature removed from title-page not affecting text. A good copy. Third edition. 88 pp. 1 vols. 8vo. Priestley emigrated to America in 1794 following the riots that were directed at him. He had become a citizen of France in 1792 and his pro-French Revolution beliefs combined with his religious teachings caused popular opinion to go against him. Siding with the democrats against the federalists when he had settled in America he became a target for Cobbett. This pamphlet was answered by "A Twig of Birch for Butting Calf; or Strictures upon Remarks on the Emigration of Doctor Joseph Priestley, &c. by A 'Brother of the Birch.' To which is added, An Historical Anecdote Translated from the French" Sabin 13899; Evans 28439
