Halberstam successfully describes the exciting World Series as well as weaving into his work the social issues in America and the successful integration of black players into major league baseball. David Halbertam has authored at least a dozen other books and has won every journalistic award including the Pulitzer Prize. Beginning on page 178, there are several pages of interesting photographs of baseball's best players of 1964. This is a great read for a time when America was at the threshold of profound social change.
