From the introduction: "This ode, described as the most perfect of English lyrics, illustrates Shelley's superior gift of expression. In 1819 he also composed Prometheus Unbound (cited as the most radiant of all Utopian visions), and The Cenci (greatest of the tragedies since Shakespeare). That these three poems, each taking a supreme place among its own kind, should have been produced by one man and in a single year of his life, is one of the astonishing accomplishments of literary biography.

Introduction by Henry Morris. Limited to only 120 numbered copies (Berger A58). Printed from Dante types composed by Dan Carr and Julia Ferrari at Golgonooza Letter Foundry. During the 17th and 18th centuries, the Dutch printing guilds, which included booksellers, bookbinders, publishers and artists, issued medals to their journeyman members, with the name or number of the member engraved thereon. The medal identified the holder as a qualified guild member, a sort of "union card." All "one-of-a-kind," they are highly prized and extremely difficult to find today. Few Americans have ever seen one. Henry Morris was able to identify the formerly anonymous "No.17" on one of the medals, thus adding considerable interest to what is already a fascinating subject. Redlands, California: Pure Gold, [1955]. Stapled wraps. Very good. [12p.] Small chips to wrap edges. The Mutual Orange Distributors (MOD) was founded in Redlands, California, in 1906 as a cooperative marketing association representing citrus growers in California. Within a few years, the coop included citrus growers in western Arizona. In 1955, MOD changed its name to Pure Gold, originally the brand name for fruit grown by the approximately 2,500 MOD growers. Sunkist took over the Pure Gold trademark when the co-op closed in 1987 due to housing developments replacing the citrus fields and the shrinking number of packing plants. This booklet explains the history of the citrus-growing culture in California and Arizona and provides information on the variety of oranges, lemons, and grapefruit grown and their cultivation and packaging. A map on the back shows the regions represented by the Pure Gold cooperative. Scarce, none located in OCLC. B&w illustrations and halftone photographs. (11"x8-1/2")

On his mother's side, he was a descendant of Thomas Hastings who came from the East Anglia region of England to the Massachusetts Bay Colony in 1634.[1] Adams received his early training in the Amherst, Massachusetts public schools and Phillips Exeter Academy. He graduated from Amherst College in 1872. In 1873 Adams traveled to Europe to study and write. In 1874 he then moved to Heidelberg, Germany to pursue the Ph.D. degree. There he was influenced by Johann Gustav Droysen and Johann Kaspar Bluntschli, the latter also becoming his mentor. Heidelberg did not then require a thesis from its doctoral candidates, instead it required an oral examination, for which he chose political science for his major field (Hauptfach), with two minors… Leer más

[no place, but Cleveland, OH], 1959. Staplebound. Very good. Octavo, 4pp. Side-stapled with decorative ribbon added. Mimeographed cover and contents. Very good, with some creasing to covers. There is pen and pencil writing internally, and with the numerous corrections to dates and times, we presume that this program was used to draft the program for the coming season; that is, the corrections to dates, times, sponsors, and the league officers are indicated so that the new season's program will be updated. We could find no information about the "Queen Pin League," but it clearly seems to have been an all-women bowling league in the Cleveland area (with all Cleveland city businesses as sponsors). A light pencil drawing on the rear cover might be a mock-up for a new cover design. Highly ephemeral piece of Cleveland women's bowling history.
