Thirty-four tinted lithographs including a host of fold-out plates, and forty wood-cut illustrations in the text. The field work extended from the Missouri River to the Pacific Coast, and covered a decade with the first fossil discovered in December, 1870, near the Smoky Hill River, in Western Kansas. Text and plates clean overall with dust soiling to fore-edge and lower page margins of descriptive text to each plate. Binding tight and firm.
