The Hudson-Fulton Celebration Commission was formed on April 27, 1906, to organize the celebration to be held from Sept. 25 to Oct. 11, 1909, to commemorate the 300th anniversary of Henry Hudson's discovery of the Hudson River in 1609 and the 100th anniversary of Robert Fulton starting the first commercial steamboat service in 1807. The acting president of the trustees at the time of this meeting was newspaper publisher Herman Ridder (1851-1915). Includes the design for the Hudson-Fulton Celebration Medal by Emil Fuchs; drawings of plans for facsimiles of Hudson's ship the Half Moon and Fulton's Clermont; a list of the many committees and their members; and a list of members of the Commission with their home addresses. In Very Good Condition: corners of first and last leaves creased with minor loss; clean and solid.
