Sobre este artículo
(Johannesburg: Art Link, 1996) 062020012X. Number 882 of a facsimile reprint edition limited to 1500 copies. With a chapter on the origin of old Cape architecture by Herbert Baker. Large 4to; original pictorial green cloth, blocked in black on spine and upper cover; pp. (ii) + viii + 16 + (69); thirty-four plates after the original ink drawings and photographs. Fine condition. "Alys Fane Trotter was born in 1863 near Salisbury, England, and died there there in 1961. She was educated mainly in England where she studied at the Slade School of Fine Art. During the time Alys and her husband lived in Cape Town (1896 to 1898), she explored the Cape Peninsula and environs by bicycle. On these excursions she made accurate visual and written records of the exteriors and interiors of a variety of old Cape buildings. Her drawings, writings and archival researches awakened in others an appreciation of Cape colonial architecture of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, and the need for its preservation. ... This facsimile edition makes available again a much-respected sourcebook on early Cape architecture." .
