Doubleday, New York, 1951. First American edition hardcover in good condition with no dust cover. The book is brown cloth with the title, author and publisher embossed in pink on the spine. This book has an interesting history as it was part of the library onboard the US Naval ship USS Allagash, AO 97, which was commissioned to be a refuel ship in 1945 for U.S. Navy ships deployed overseas in combat zones during World War 2. After faithfully serving her purpose in multiple wartime operations, the ship was decommissioned in 1970 and was sold to a private company for scrapping. The ship's stamp is on the inside of both covers and a library checkout card is glued onto the back cover. The book in the photos is the book you are purchasing.
