Sobre este artículo

New York, NY E.P. Dutton, 1928. Hardcover First Edition USA (1928); no date on the title page; just on the copyright page. Through 1928, Dutton denoted first editions by the same date on the copyright and title pages. This may not be the first printing, but no subsequent printings noted either. Good+: The book shows light wear to the extremities but with a heavily scuffed 1 1/4" section along the upper outside edge of the front panel; the front and rear free endpapers show faint dampstaining and though the text pages do not show dampstaining there has been a mild crinkly quality imparted to them; mild rubbing to the panels; the gilt titles are darkened but remain legible; age-toning to the outside edges of the text block; a former owner's quite attractive bookplates at the front and rear paste-down endpapers; the binding leans slightly but remains secure. Free of creased or dog-eared pages in the text.. Free of underlining, hi-lighting, notations, or marginalia. A handsome copy, structurally sound and tightly bound copy, showing mild wear and several cosmetic imperfections. NOT a Remainder, Book-Club, or Ex-Library. 8vo. (7.76 x 5.5 x 1.15 inches). 379 pages. Appendix. Translated by C.K. Scott-Moncrieff. Language: English. Weight: 15 ounces. Blue quarter cloth with gilt titles at the backstrip and brilliantly decorated four-color paper over boards. First Edition USA (1928); no date on the title page; just on the copyright page. Through 1928, Dutton denoted first editions by the same date on the copyright and title pages. This may not be the first printing, but no subsequent printings noted either. Hardback: Pictorial Paper on Boards. Luigi Pirandello (I867 - 1936) was an Italian dramatist, novelist, poet, and short story writer who was awarded the 1934 Nobel Prize in Literature for "his almost magical power to turn psychological analysis into good theatre." Pirandello's works include about 40 plays, some of which are written in Sicilian. Pirandello's tragic farces are often seen as forerunners of the Theatre of the Absurd. The Old and the Young (I vecchi e i giovani), his fifth novel, was first published in Italian in 1913.
