Sobre este artículo
Sir Thomas More, Omnia Latin Opera. Leuvun: Petrus Zangrius, 1565.
First Edition of More's works in Latin and the first Latin edition of More's History of Richard III, the source for Shakespeare's portrayal of Richard as a hunchback villain in King Richard III. See Elizabeth Story Donno, "Thomas More and Richard III," Renaissance Quarterly 35 (1982): 401-47.
Stuart Gillespie observes that the History of Richard III "written in slightly differing English and Latin forms" is "the only work of More's used as a source by Shakespeare." Shakespeare's Books: A Dictionary of Shakespeare's Sources (London, 2001), p. 366.
Small folio. [6], 136 ff. Lacking title and final leaf, text is otherwise complete. Contemporary vellum (text has separated from binding). Worn, chipped, soiled. First few leaves heavily worn at lower corner with minor loss, pages 59 to 61 with a tear at the upper corner, minor loss. Edges to text block somewhat worn and dampstained with several creases. Extensive manuscript annotations on both endleaves.
USTC lists one copy in the US and three in the UK.
