Sobre este artículo

Chicago: Donohue and Henneberry, 1890., 1890. First edition. First Edition. Brown Cloth, with decorative blind-stamping on back cover , and stamping in black on front. Spine in gilt with attractive gilt imprint on front cover. Marbled edges. Numerous illustrations and plates. An uncommon sympathetic view of Sioux Indians at a time when most public opinion was the opposite. "Chapters 18-22, about 80 pages, contain much detail on the Battle of the Little Big Horn, including accounts from important participants in the battle such as Captain Thomas McDougall, Second Lieutenant Luther Hare, First Lieutenant Charles Barnum, Dr. Henry Porter, scout George Herendeen, and interpreter Frank Gerard. The interview of Hare is rare in that he seldom spoke publicly of the Little Big Horn fight for the remainder of his life. Gerard's story is also valuable because he had temporarily stayed behind Custer's command at Powder River Depot, awaiting dispatches to carry to Custer. In doing so, he overheard General Terry explain to Captain E. W. Smith that he (Terry) had instructed Custer that if he found any Indians not to do as Reno did, but if he thought he could whip them, to do so. Also includes Gall's 1886 account given at the tenth anniversary at the Custer Battlefield".-O'Keefe 1119. Two small stuffs to back edge of spine, else an exceptionally clean, bright, tight copy of this scarce work.
