He was killed Sept 7, 1864. Private Shank belonged to the 125th Illinois Volunteer Infantry Regiment and a roll of the regiment is included. Includes letters from Chickamauga, Chattanooga, Murfreesboro, Kenesaw, Perryville, Nashville and more. Valuable insight into the life of a enlisted man in the civil war. . Signed by Author.
