Originally published in hardcover in 1993, this is still the only version of Butler's long-revered 'Lives of the Saints' that presents saints in all their splendour, in both word & image. The selection reflects contemporary interest & patronage. St Agatha is the patron saint of bell-founders and Nurses. She was tortured and her breasts were cut off. The breasts were often depicted on a tray, and were mistaken for loaves (so there was a practice ofblessing bread on St Agatha's day) or mmistaken for bells (therefore the patron aint of bell-founders). Books are carefully wrapped and shipped in corrugated cardboard cartons. Books are returnable for a full refund if the book is not as described.
