DANIELIS SENNERTI OPERA OMNIA. Venetiis: apud. Franciscum Baba, 1641. Bound in 3 Volumes. Thick quartos (approx. 32 x 21.5 cm) in full old vellum with raised bands and titles inked on spines. Title pages printed in black and red with title vignettes (Baba's griffin device with motto) at front of each volume. With ornate head pieces and initial caps. Boards warping, with some splitting at spine joints. Title from half-title which appears in Vol 1 only. Title pages are the opening pages for Vols 2 & 3. Some toning to paper, and occasional light moisture stains or spotting to the paper. Volume 1 sections with additional title pages and pagination: Danielis Sennerti ratislaviensis ...Institutionum Medicinae Libri Quinque Operumq; Tomus Primus; ...de Chymicorum Cum Aristotelicis et Galenicis Consensu ac dissensu liber, ...Epitome Naturalis Scientiae editio novissima. Volume 1 also includes Index and Danielis Sennerti Physica Hypomnemata, with its own index. Volume 2 sections include: Danielis Sennerti Uratislaviensis... Medicinae Practicae. Tomus Primus, Operumq; Secundus. Index for the chapters in the first, second and third book. Closed tear in gutter of pages 1-2, rear hinge cracked and 2" split at bottom joint. Inked sketch of a pointing finger in the gutter of page 261, moisture stain in top right quadrant of pages mid-book. Some faint old manuscript writing on covers of Volume 2 the lines in the form of inverted pyramid; old ms astrological & element notations pasted on rear pastedown. Vol. 3: 153 pages with illustration plate of various positions of the infant in utero, including twins. Separate title page in black, with separate pagination for "De Febribus Libri Quatuor. Editio Novissima. Cui accessit Fasciculus Medicamentorum contra Pestem; and a section "Fasciculus Medicamentorum Pestilentia Grassante..." and "Medicamenta Contra Pestem, a Medicis Berlinensibus...1625." Last few pages of this volume have some worm damage in bottom margin, not affecting text. Daniel Sennert was a German physician and professor at the University of Wittenberg. "Besides giving one of the earliest accounts of scarlatina, Sennert added to the knowledge of scurvy, dysentery and alcoholism. He was an able clinician but a believer in witchcraft," Garrison Morton 61 (for later Lugduni, 1667 edn).

Vol. 1: [38], 306pp., [6], 309-808pp., [32]; Vol. 2: [16], 363pp., [5], 363-786pp., [18]; Vol. 3: [12], 696pp., [12]. Titles in red and black. Woodcut printer’s device of Huguetan showing Ptolemy (left) and Euclid (right) either side of an astronomical device known as an armillary sphere. The text is in Latin, with the central motto translating as “the universality of things is like dust in the hand of God.” The IAH monogram at bottom is for the 17th century French printer Jean-Antoine Huguetan. Complete with the portrait and half-title (Vol. 1), and numerous woodcut initials, head- and tail- pieces. Contemporary vellum (rebacked, some browning throughout, marginal worming, lightly worn). Contemporary ownership inscription by doctor above pictorial wood-engraved ex-libris by Leo Wyatt for Lord Norwich on front endpaper (in all volumes).
